Latest User Reviews:XL Lite and XL too slowI used Edoc's full version a few years ago. I liked the program except it was too slow. So I DL the full version and the lite version and tried both. Unfortunatley both we too slow. As an example, converting to PDF takes forever. Great!!!Easy to use and helpful. Makes orgenizing much easier. New user considers long-term implicationsThe eDocXL Lite program stores digitized copies of documents of all types. While it performs well and has a friendly interface, the underlying system, philosophy, and options are ill-documented. First, I think the user should be required to specify a data location. The default location is seven or eight layers down the directory tree in windows, and might be difficult to locate in the event of a program failure. Next, for either business or personal use, the developers must consider that use of this program is a life decision. It will be used for archiving data that may need to be readily accessible 7 or 10 or more years down the road for tax and estate implications. The program must come with a guarantee of durability and performance. Just 14 years ago, this program would have been written in DOS, and thus would now be unusable on many machines. It appears that the "folders" created in the program are folders of links, not actual file locations. It would seem more helpful to force the program to create actual Windows folders that would organize the data in an explorable system in the event of program failure or abandonment. The data may well be needed by a survivor, instead of the user. I find no analysis of this implication in the program or website. Social bookmarks: RSS:
